- Summer league for Varsity players begins Monday, June 7th.
- Two matches per night will be played (Monday and Wednesday nights)

Game against Nolan Catholic from Ft. Worth, TX. Next game is the
Final Four (5 pm) on Nov. 2 vs. Houston St. Agnes at Southwestern
University.

Bi-District Game against Trinity Christian Academy from Addison, TX.
Next game is Regionals (10 am) on Oct. 27 vs. Ft. Worth Nolan at
University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
- Alumni Game
- In celebration of the Providence High School's 50th Anniversary,
we will be holding an Volleyball Alumni Game on Friday, October
19th, at 5:30pm. A practice for the alums will be on Sunday, October
14th, from 4pm-6pm.

- Due to the terrorist tragedies on the east coast, the Varsity
matches vs Pleasanton and West Campus have been postponed to
Wednesday, September 12th. The JV and Freshmen matches have been
CANCELLED!

- The PROVET mascot name will officially be changed to PANTHER,
starting the 2002 season. For the 2001-2002 year, we will be
referred to as the PROVET-PANTHERS.

- The PROVETS lost to Houston St. Agnes (09-15, 04-15) for the 5A
State Championship. Congratulations to Marci Mesquiti, Amanda
Rodriguez, Adriane Klein and Laura Sanchez for making the
All-Tournament team.
- Congratulations Regional Champs
- The PROVETS are TAPPS 5A "Regional Champions" by beating
Houston St. Pius X (15-07, 15-02). The PROVETS will be playing in
the State 5A semi-finals against Ft. Worth Nolan, Thursday, November
2nd at 2:30pm, at the Ferrell Center, Baylor University, Waco, TX.
- Congratulations District Champs
- The PROVETS will represent TAPPS District 5A as "District
Champions" at the 5A Regional tournament on Saturday, October
28th, at Temple College in Temple, TX. The PROVETS will be playing
the District 3-5A Runner-up, Houston St. Pius XX at 4:15pm
- District Match moved
- The Provets 1st district match against Antonian has been moved to
Thursday, September 28th (5pm, 6pm, 7pm) at Antonian HS.
The match was originally scheduled for Friday the 29th.
- PROVETS Runner-up finishers at Brewer Tournament
- The Provets loss to Brewer HS (11-15, 15-11, 12-15) in the finals
of the Brewer Tournament in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Provets played
some of the top 4A teams in the Ft. Worth/Dallas area. Marci
Mesquiti and Jessika Taveras received All-Tournament Honors.
- PROVETS 4th place finishers at NEISD Tournament
- The Provets loss to Holmes HS (08-15, 03-15) for 3rd place at the
NEISD Tournament. The Provets beat Madison, Highlands, then loss to
Clark in the semi-finals. Amanda Rodriguez received All-Tournament
Honors.
- PROVETS Finalists at Alamo Heights Tournament
- The Provets fell short of a 4-peat championship, losing to Lee HS
(12-15, 10-15). In both games, the Provets got late starts before
attempting to come back. Amanda Rodriguez and Danielle Zapata
received All-Tournament Honors.
- TRYOUT start Wednesday, August 2nd
- Tryouts for all PROVET VOLLEYBALL TEAMS start on Wednesday, August
2, 2000. Freshmen tryouts are from 8am-10am and 3pm-6pm. All other
candidates should go from 10am-12 noon and 5pm-8pm. Returning
Varsity Players practice is at 10am-12 noon and 7:30pm-9:30pm.
Check the 2000 Calendar for the rest of the tryout/practice
schedule. NOTE: All physicals must be done by MONDAY, August 1st in
order to tryout.
- PROVET Pre-Varsity Camp CANCELLED
- Due to an unforeseen conflict, this camp is cancelled. All those
qualified for this camp are invited to attend the VARSITY CAMP. See
Varsity Camp info for details. If you have already registered for
this camp, then you will automatically be registered for the Varsity
Camp, and your registration fee will be applied.

- JENNIFER SANCHEZ will conduct PROVET Camps
- All-American Setter, JENNIFER SANCHEZ (1996 Providence Graduate),
will conduct the PROVET Junior High Camp (June 19-21) and the PROVET
Setters Camp (June 24). Go to CAMP/TOURNAMENT INFO for more details.
- 2000 Schedule Complete
- The The 2000 Game Schedule is complete. See the 2000 Calendar for
details of the schools the PROVETS will be playing. The
"Schedule/Roster" site will be updated later.
- Misti Fischnar Signs with the Rattlers
- Middle Blocker MISTI FISCHNAR decided to sign with St. Mary's
University. The official signing, with the "Rattler"
coach, Laura Groff, occurred at Mama's Restaurant on Feburary 3rd. A
celebration for Providence students was held in the gym on Feb. 8th.
Misti was recruited from Tulane University, Louisiana Tech, and UT
or Arlington. Congratulations Misti!!!!
- PROVETS win its 1st TAPPS STATE Championship
- The PROVETS travel to Baylor University to play for its 2nd
attempt at winning a TAPPS State Championship. In the semi-final
match, Christine Guerra (Outside Hitter) suffered an ankle sprain.
The PROVETS prevailed though, beating Victoria St. Josephs (15-6,
15-7).
- The PROVETS faced Addison Trinity Christian Academy in the finals.
Natalie Villareal and Kristen McCormick stepped to replace Chrissy
in the line-up. After a rough start, the PROVETS came through with
some great defensive plays (Marci Mesquiti, Lindsie Arizola),
offensive punches (Misti Fischnar, Amanda Rodriguez), great bench
play (Adriene Klein, Jessika Taveras), outstanding setting (Danielle
Zapata), and all-around play (Kristen Mora). The PROVETS were behind
in the 1st game 0-11. After settling into the match and getting over
the nerves, the PROVETS came back from 3-13 to 10-13, but loss
(10-15). The comeback in the 1st game however set a momentum for the
rest of the match, and paced the PROVETS to win the final games
(15-11, 15-9)
