Giving to Providence
High School
The Providence
Approach…Girls Come First
At Providence, the focus is
solely on young women, encouraging them to develop
intellectual curiosity, deepen their faith, practice
integrity and seek justice. Providence gives its students
the tools they need for their future and nurtures their
strengths. Through a seamless curriculum for grades 6 – 12,
we teach girls the way they learn best.
With a rigorous academic
program and strong focus on college preparation, Providence
High School is known for its 100% college and university
acceptance rate, as well as for its students’ success in
attaining scholarships. Providence Prep offers a curriculum
that both challenges and supports intense academic work,
teaching its students more than facts; it teaches them how
to think.
The formation of Providence
Preparatory for grades six through eight in August 2005 put
us in the forefront of education by creating the only
private, all girls’ middle school in south Texas. Providence
Prep prepares girls for the rigorous college preparatory
curriculum at Providence High School.
More than 6,000 women have
graduated from Providence since its inception in 1951, and
the school's positive impact is manifested through each of
them -- their personal lives, careers, and service to their
communities. Alumnae share a special bond and love for the
values and knowledge that they received, and share
responsibility for current students’ learning and
development.
Working with an outstanding
faculty and staff, Providence offers the best curriculum
available in San Antonio for single gender education.
Educational research confirms that by senior year, students
at single gender schools excel beyond their co-ed peers in
the areas of reading, writing, and science. Graduates of
women’s high schools are more satisfied with their schools
and the quality of the teaching, more open-minded about
their roles and possibilities and relieved of some of the
adolescent social pressures. Current data shows that a
single gender learning environment improves girls’
achievement in math, science, and technology.
We are grateful for the
financial support from alumni, faculty, staff, parents,
friends, foundations and businesses. Gifts to the Annual
Fund help provide scholarships, and support our Academic,
Athletic, and Visual & Performing Arts programs.
Scholarships are one of the
highest priorities of the school, providing more than
$188,000 in tuition assistance. Tuition and fees cover only
80% of the true cost to educate each girl, a difference of
about $1,000, as we work to keep costs within all family’s
financial means.
A scholarship can change the
life of a student, allowing our young women to achieve their
long-term goals through preparation for college and careers.
Financial aid enhances our students’ achievements during
their middle school years, through high school graduation,
and on to higher learning institutions and future careers.
Giving is an individual
decision, and Providence offers opportunities to fit your
own personal goals with the school's needs. Many people give
because they received scholarships and financial aid as
students and want to see other young women enjoy the same
benefits at Providence as they did. Others support favorite
programs and departments because of their belief in what
students in these areas will contribute to society.
Whether it is by making a
gift to the Annual Campaign or through Planned Giving to
benefit Providence in the future, we invite you to make an
investment in the education of tomorrow's women leaders.
Your gift — no matter what level — will make a significant
difference in Providence today, and will help create the
Providence of the future.
