"It's no use going to school unless the
library is your final destination." -- Ray
Bradbury
"Let's go to the library; I bet we can learn
some valuable things there." -- Harry Potter |

Many library
resources are at your fingertips. |
WHAT'S THE
BUZZ
"To those
with ears to hear, libraries are really very
noisy places. On their shelves we hear the
captured voices of the centuries-old
conversation that makes up our
civilization." -- Healy
Providence Library Mission Statement
The library
supports the mission of Providence Catholic
School by providing access to information in
varied formats, including traditional
resources and new technologies. These
resources both support and integrate into
the school’s total curriculum.
The librarian
provides instruction and guidance in
research, recreational and school-assigned
reading, and in the acquisition of personal
knowledge by students and school personnel.
The library
houses thousands of volumes, in addition to
a computer lab that is used to access the
riches of world knowledge, including
subscriptions to the databases deemed most
valuable in middle, high school and
college-preparatory education. Hours of
operation extend well before and after the
school day in order for Provets to take
advantage of valuable knowledge and the
computer lab for the completion of class
assignments.
"To be
information literate, a person must be able
to recognize when information is needed, and
have the ability to locate, evaluate, and
use effectively the needed
information…Ultimately, information literate
people are those who have learned how to
learn." –American Library Association Report
on Information Literacy.
