program
Powerful Leadership
Internship -
Seniors can take 1 or 2 semesters of
internship at the profession of
their choice and explore potential
careers and fields of interest. Each
student is given the opportunity to
integrate their academic study with
the workplace. Past student
internships include WOAI-TV, San
Antonio Symphony, San Antonio
Women’s Chamber of Commerce,
architectural firms, City Council
offices, doctor and dental offices
and schools.
Broadcast
Journalism
-
Students learn about all aspects of the
broadcasting field including producing a
live daily school broadcast (Provet-TV),
mini-movies, and commercials as well as
creating documentaries and narratives.
Students in this class are responsible
for floor production, camera operations,
and teleprompts.
PAL
(Peer Assistance and Leadership)
–
The P.A.L. program empowers students
to serve effectively as mediators,
mentors and advisors in specific
peer-to-peer situations. The types
of peer assistance offered in PAL
are driven by needs assessment and
include the following: group and
one-to-one peer tutoring and
mentoring, career choices; providing
peer mediation and conflict
resolution services; developing and
participating in community service
projects; developing communication,
decision-making, problem-solving,
team and relationship building,
confidentiality, and referral
skills.
JROTC –
Providence is the only Catholic
school in San Antonio offering JROTC
for young women. Students enrolled
in the ROTC program at Central
Catholic High School develop
personal and small group
relationship skills, leadership and
management skills and participate in
community service events and compete
at the State and National level.

In addition to an excellent education
and life-long friendships, Providence
successfully prepares its students for
life’s next steps.
Also, each year more than 50% of the
graduating class earns in excess of 4
million dollars in scholarships and
grants. For the first time in its
history, Providence Catholic School has
had two applicants for the Naval ROTC
Scholarship awarded nationally. Both
Applicants have been awarded this
scholarship, making it a rare exception
that 100% of applicants have been
awarded this scholarship. Providence has
also had two
Gates Millennium Scholarship
recipients in recent years.
