Cheryl Rios:
Academic Assistant Principal.
Cheryl Rios is Academic Assistant Principal at Providence High
School. She joins Providence this year with 11 years experience in
education. Most recently she taught middle school science and was a
team leader at St. Matthew Catholic School. She has taught American
Sign Language at the University of the Incarnate Word, Anatomy and
Chemistry II at Central Catholic High School, and Honors Biology and
Chemistry at Clark High School. Her leadership and passion in
education have become hallmarks of her professional career.
From 1992-2002, Mrs.
Rios was the Director of Deaf Ministry for the Archdiocese of San
Antonio, providing accessibility, assistance, and advocacy for Deaf
Catholics throughout South Texas as well as enabling Deaf youth
throughout the archdiocese to realize their potential spiritually
and socially.
Mrs. Rios holds two
Master of Arts degrees—one in Catholic School Leadership from St.
Mary’s University and another in Adult and Higher Education from the
University of Texas at San Antonio. She received a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Biology from St. Mary’s University. Mrs. Rios is certified
by the Texas Education Agency in the following areas: Principal and
Secondary Sciences; and by the Texas Commission for the Deaf as a
Level II Sign Language Interpreter.
Mrs. Rios enjoys
spending time with her husband Eduardo and their three boys: Jared,
Andrew, and R.J. |
